Stealing Snow (Stealing Snow #1) by Danielle Paige

stealing-snowTJ Burns — October 2016

Stealing Snow pulled me right in and had me asking question upon question right from the start! Then the story gets even more exciting and the questions continue to pile up.

After a bit of a lull in the middle, the story picks up speed quite a bit toward the end. Lots of exciting stuff going on, but also many unanswered questions. (I listed some of the many unanswered questions at the very bottom of this post — but beware: spoilers abound down there).

A few loose ends in a series are okay, but there were more loose ends than tied ends.

Then there’s the love triangle (square). We’ve got Bale, who I neither know, nor care about. He’s got some kind of fire power, which makes me think he’s not going to be good for Snow in the end. Then there’s Kai, who I like and think has good intentions with both Snow and Gerde. Then we have Jagger — charming, but deceptive. Do we even know who he really is? Who will get the girl?

Intriguing premise and lots of mystery, which I love! I will definitely be continuing the series to find answers for all my questions! 3-3.5

Unanswered Questions: [BEWARE: SPOILERS]

Did Kai get Gerde to safety? What has happened to them? Should we care?

I suspected the Enforcer was Bale when he breathed fire. I’d picked up from the early kiss scene that Bale had a reason he could not be with Snow. But what was that reason? Was he working for the king already? Was he recruited later? Is he related to Snow’s mom? Is he Snow’s brother?

Did Snow’s mom die? Or, because of her fire, was she able to survive the freeze? Did her mother really lock her up to protect her own power? Or did she have an ulterior motive?

What’s with Snow’s sister? Did she make it to the Witch of the Woods safely? Who is the Witch of the Woods? What’s her role in these shenanigans? What’s with the River Witch? Is she to be trusted?

Where did the king’s soldiers take Margot, Cadence, and Fathom? What happened to Jagger?
