The Diabolic is exciting, suspenseful, and full of unexpected twists and turns. I really enjoyed this story. I found the concept original and clever. The writing style is nice and kept the story moving along at an exciting pace.

The characters are interesting, diverse, and intriguingly flawed. Nemesis has been bred entirely for the benefit of someone else. Her life has no meaning (supposedly) except to be of use to someone else. I loved experiencing Nemesis’s development first hand as she learns to feel her own feelings, choose her own destiny, discover her humanity and her ability to feel (and love) independently from her breeding and programming. Tyrus is a quirky, fascinating character. I liked and identified with him right from the start. Even the side characters, like Donia, Donia’s mother, Cygna, Neveni, are colorful and interesting, and add flavor to the mix.

I was able to guess a few aspects of the plot in advance, but many more took me by surprise, shook me around, and spit me out, shocked and baffled. I loved it!
